 The Sadler-Stanley Racing team will bring two entries to the opener of the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic season this Saturday at Florence Motor Speedway.
Luke Baldwin returns to the team for the third straight year to wheel the No. 7VA Pace-O-Matic machine in 2026. Baldwin has won the last two championships and sets sail looking for an unprecedented third consecutive crown. Kicking off a rotating driver lineup in the No. 16VA Pace-O-Matic entry, team co-owner Hermie Sadler will drive the opener at Florence. Hermie is the first of many names to sit behind the wheel in 2026. Announced this week, his brother, Elliott, will drive the car at South Boston Speedway for SMART Modified Tour race three on March 21, the King of the Modifieds 125. The SMART Modified Tour season begins at Florence on Saturday, February 28. EMPORIA, Va. – Former NASCAR winner Elliott Sadler is returning to his racing roots next month. Elliott will pilot the No. 16VA Pace-O-Matic Modified for Sadler-Stanley Racing to make his SMART Modified Tour debut in the $20,000 to win King of the Modifieds at South Boston Speedway on March 20-21. Elliott was the 1995 South Boston Speedway Late Model champion and has a grandstand named in his honor at the historic Virginia short track. Elliott used his success at South Boston Speedway to catapult him to a long and successful NASCAR career, which included 17 wins in NASCAR’s National Series, which saw him named as the Most Popular Driver by the fans, four times. Elliott is one of only 36 racers in history to have won races in all of NASCAR’s top-three National Series divisions. Baldwin sealed the championship season behind the wheel of the Sadler-Stanley Racing No. 7VA with his fourth victory of the season at North Wilkesboro Speedway in the season-finale. Baldwin rocketed to the top spot following a late pit stop and drove away from the competition to grab the race win. Baldwin became back-to-back SMART Modified Tour champion driving the Pace-O-Matic machine. The rising star gave appreciation to his entire team, led by Senator Bill Stanley, former NASCAR driver Hermie Sadler, and the entire PSR Products group that prepare and work on the car on race day. “It feels good to finally ride the elevator at North Wilkesboro and cap off the season with a win,” Luke said. “I can’t say enough about my guys.. The car was on a rail. We weren’t that great to unload, but the team busted their tails all weekend and got it where it needed to be. This one is special. This season wasn’t as dominant as I hoped it would be… it got frustrating at times… but my guys stuck behind me and never gave up. On Friday night at Coastal Plains, Pace-O-Matic driver Jonathan Cash rocketed to his first career victory in the No. 16VA. Cash passed former NASCAR Cup Series standout Ryan Newman to accomplish the task in the final few laps. “It’s been a tough couple of months but this win just changes everything,” Cash said. “Hermie Sadler, Pace-O-Matic, Senator Bill Stanley and everyone involved in this car could have given up on me. We haven’t had a good year at all, but the guys continued to fight and now we have a trophy.” On Saturday at Carteret County Speedway, defending SMART Modified Tour champion and team driver Luke Baldwin roared to victory for the second time in 2025. Baldwin dominated the final stages of the race, finishing 1-2 with his brother, Jack Baldwin, who drives for Tommy Baldwin Racing. Luke rebounded from a tough first leg of the Beach Trip with a 13th place finish at Coastal Plains to score the victory at Carteret. “One-two for the Baldwin brothers, it means a lot,” Luke said. “The victory at Carteret meant a lot given the night we had at Coastal Plains. It felt like nothing went our way at Coastal Plains, but man, we made the right strategy call and we were firing on all cylinders at Carteret.” With the Beach Trip in the rear-view mirror, the Sadler-Stanley Racing team is preparing for the upcoming event at Caraway Speedway this Saturday, September 6. The Sadler-Stanley Racing, Pace-O-Matic team is fired up to get back to the track for the first time in over a month with two short-track races in North Carolina. Friday night, the SMART stars return to Coastal Plains Raceway (formerly New River All-American) for the Cardinal 99. Saturday, teams will move across the state to Carteret County Speedway for the Carteret Clash. Last year, the Beach Trip events were both run on the same day due to Mother Nature. This year, as of release time, the weather looks great for two days of competition. Both Jonathan Cash and series points leader and defending champion Luke Baldwin will be back behind the wheel. “Our entire team is excited to get back to the beach for the doubleheader with the SMART Modified Tour this weekend,” Cash said. “We had really good runs in both races last year with a second at Carteret, our best run of the year in 2024.
