Sadler-Stanley Racing Battles Through Adversity During Busy Weekend

As the Sadler-Stanley Racing team loaded up Saturday at Tri-County Speedway, the team reflected on two days of racing that were filled with adversity. On Friday, the team competed in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at Richmond Raceway with Bobby Labonte driving the No. 38VA. In the middle of the race, Labonte was swept up in a wreck, failing to finish after a promising run early.

On Sunday, the team moved from Virginia to North Carolina to compete in the fourth race of the SMART Modified Tour season with team drivers Jonathan Cash and Luke Baldwin. After the Cardinal 99, Baldwin came away with the best finish of the week for the team – 5th – after fighting transmission problems during the race.

Cash, who had issues with his primary car, had to use a backup. He was involved in a wreck early in the race and the finish didn’t show for the hard work the team put forward.

Putting it behind them, Sadler-Stanley Racing will be back on track next Saturday, April 6, at Orange County Speedway for another SMART Modified Tour race with both Luke Baldwin and Jonathan Cash.

For more information on team driver Jonathan Cash, fans should visit Jonathan Cash Racing on Facebook. For more information on team driver Luke Baldwin, visit him on Facebook and Instagram at Luke Baldwin Racing and also follow Tommy Baldwin Racing across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

For more information on Sadler-Stanley Racing, visit Sadler-StanleyRacing.com and follow the team on Facebook at SS Racing for the latest updates, including from the track on race day.

Coming off the King of the Modifieds event at South Boston Speedway last weekend, Sadler-Stanley Racing is ready to get back to the track for a doubleheader of racing this Friday and Saturday.

Friday, the team will have Bobby Labonte driving the No. 38 Pace-O-Matic machine in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at Richmond Raceway.

On Saturday, the fourth race of the SMART Modified Tour season will see Luke Baldwin (7VA) and Jonathan Cash (16VA) racing at Tri-County Speedway to continue their chase for the series championship.

Friday’s NASCAR race at Richmond will be the second start of the season for Labonte with Sadler-Stanley Racing. In his first - the second SMART race of the season at Caraway Speedway on March 10 - Labonte finished third. Last year at Richmond, Labonte qualified eighth and brought home the Pace-O-Matic machine in sixth-place. It was the first of two top-10 finishes in his three NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour starts for the team last year.

Baldwin is coming off his first career Tour-Type Modified win at South Boston, and it came in a crown jewel event. Baldwin bested the field to win the King of the Modifieds 125 and collect a smooth $20,000 along with it. He’s heading for Tri-County looking to make it back-to-back, after now posting top-seven finishes in all three SMART Modified Tour races to open the season.

After a tough result in the first two events, team driver Jonathan Cash also put together a stout run at South Boston, finishing fourth. At his home track, Cash used his experience to be there at the end and come away with his first top-five of the season. He will be heading to Tri-County looking to keep the momentum rolling towards his first career SMART win.

Fans looking to watch the action can see both the Richmond and Tri-County races on FloRacing.TV. Friday’s event at Richmond is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., while Saturday’s racing at Tri-County will go green at 4 p.m. Fans can also follow SS Racing on Facebook for updates from the track on both days.

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. –
Talk about a way to score your first career win.

Luke Baldwin drove the No. 7VA to the front of the field and held off the best of the best in Matt Hirschman over the final laps to become King of the Modifieds on Sunday at South Boston Speedway.

In the third race of the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic season, Baldwin drove the Sadler-Stanley Racing, Pace-O-Matic, Mohawk Northeast entry to Victory Lane for his first career Tour-Type Modified win in just his third career start.

The win came with a $20,000 prize and the crown in Victory Lane for Baldwin. While Baldwin picked up the win, team driver Jonathan Cash rallied from a tough first half of the race and came home with a solid fourth-place finish, his first top-five of the season.

“I can’t believe it,” Luke Baldwin said. “The car was a rocket ship. All of the guys at Sadler-Stanley Racing and PSR Chassis did a great job. It’s a ton of pressure (over the final laps battling Hirschman) - but, I always say pressure is privilege. I’m thankful for everyone who makes this possible.”

Luke passed Matt Hirschman for the lead prior to pit stops just after halfway in the King of the Modifieds 125, then after pitting, had to get the lead back. He led the final stretch of the race and held off Hirschman, who was close behind, in the stretch run to the checkered flag at the Virginia track.

Cash struggled early, but after a late race incident, charged through and restarted third on the final restart, finishing in fourth, tying his best career SMART Modified Tour effort with Sadler-Stanley Racing.

Sadler-Stanley Racing will be back on track at Richmond Raceway on Friday, March 29, for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event with Bobby Labonte. The team will then move to Tri-County Speedway with the SMART Modified Tour on Saturday, March 30, with both Baldwin and Cash.

Luke Baldwin, Jonathan Cash Ready To Chase $20,000 Prize

Sadler-Stanley Racing will return to the track this Sunday for the third race of the SMART Modified Tour season at South Boston Speedway.

Along with the prestige of winning a race on the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic, this event, titled the King of the Modifieds, is worth $20,000 to win - set to take place on Sunday, March 24. The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, but moved to Sunday due to poor weather forecasts.

With some sponsor support, the event has pushed to a total purse of over $80,000 with 33 entered drivers. The purse includes payouts of $20,000 to win, $10,000 for second and $5,000 for third.

The Sadler-Stanley Racing team is excited to get to South Boston after a successful test there last week with both Luke Baldwin (7VA) and Jonathan Cash (16VA).

“I’m looking forward to running at my home track,” Jonathan Cash said. “I have thousands of laps at South Boston, so I definitely feel comfortable heading there with the Pace-O-Matic team. We’re looking for a good run in front of the hometown crowd.”

Luke Baldwin has opened the 2024 season with two top-seven finishes in his first two career Tour-Type Modified races driving for Sadler-Stanley Racing. Competing for glory at South Boston is something the rising Modified driver is looking forward to experiencing in a stout field of competition.

“I feel confident going into this race, knowing we have a fast No. 7VA at South Boston,” Luke Baldwin said. “It’s a super fast and high-grip race track, which I think fits my driving style well. I can’t wait to get out there and chase the $20,000.”

A full schedule for race day is available online at SMARTModifiedTour.com. The race will air live on FloRacing.TV.

Luke Baldwin 7th; Jonathan Cash 16th in SMART Modified Tour Warrior 100

SOPHIA, N.C. – Sadler-Stanley Racing (SS Racing) returned to the track on Sunday afternoon, March 10, at Caraway Speedway in North Carolina for the second race of the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic season.

NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Bobby Labonte returned to the lineup for the first of multiple SMART Modified Tour events this season for the former SS Racing winner and 2000 NASCAR Cup Series champion. He was joined by Luke Baldwin and Jonathan Cash, the two full-time SS Racing drivers for the 2024 season for SS Racing.

Labonte and Baldwin posted times inside the top-five in practice, while Cash was 14th. In qualifying, Labonte posted the third fastest time, while Baldwin was 7th and Cash followed deeper in the pack.

Right before the race, Labonte redrew to the pole position. He ran inside the top-five for the duration of the 100-lap event and scored a podium third-place finish. Labonte won the final two races of the SMART Modified Tour season in 2023 and started off his efforts for 2024 with a strong day at Caraway on Sunday in the Pace-O-Matic No. 18.

Baldwin was collected in a wreck early and the team had to come up with some strategy to get him back in the game. He pitted for a fresh Hoosier tire during the first stage break, then stayed out and took over the lead after the second stage while others pitted. Baldwin would lose some spots in the final laps, but bring the No. 7VA home with a seventh-place finish. Cash had a day filled with ups and downs that resulted with a finish outside the top-10, but the No. 16VA team continues to push and make improvements each time on the track.

The next race for the Sadler-Stanley Racing team will be the $20,000 to win King of the Modifieds event at South Boston Speedway with the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic on Saturday, March 23. Both Luke Baldwin and Jonathan Cash will drive machines to compete for the big prize in what is quickly becoming one of the crown jewel Modified events on the East Coast. The race will be live on FloRacing.TV.

Warrior 100, Second Race of SMART Modified Tour Season, Set For Sunday With Three SS Racing Entries

The Sadler-Stanley Racing team will return to the track this Sunday, March 10, for the second race of the SMART Modified Tour season at Caraway Speedway. The Warrior 100, estimated to go green around 3:30 p.m., is the second of 15 events on the busy schedule for the team racing with the SMART Modified Tour in 2024.

The 100-lap race will mark the first start of the season for NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Bobby Labonte in the No. 18, while full-time team drivers Jonathan Cash and Luke Baldwin will also return to competition at Caraway. The Pace-O-Matic drivers are ready to tackle the Sophia, North Carolina, oval.

Labonte won the season-finale of the SMART Modified Tour in 2023 and is excited to get back to work with the group. He will compete in a part-time SMART schedule and also run three NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races for Sadler-Stanley Racing in 2024.

“Last year, we ended on a high note, winning two of the last three SMART races,” Labonte said. “Even though our schedule is a little bit different this year, I’m excited about everything that Hermie, Bill and the Sadler-Stanley Racing team have with PSR Products and the entire group. Hopefully we will pick up where we left off. We have quite a few races together this year and we want to be able to be contenders to win.”

Baldwin is coming off a top-five effort in his Tour-Type Modified debut last weekend at Florence. He was fastest in practice, qualified third, and finished inside the top-five, posting a solid start to his season. Baldwin has been to Caraway before in the 602 Modifieds, but is looking forward to tackling the Tour-Type Modified on Sunday.

“I’m feeling pretty confident going into Caraway this weekend,” Baldwin said. “This is a place that I have experience at, and I believe fits my driving style more. The entire Sadler-Stanley Racing group and I have been testing a couple times there and it’s gone well. I know the guys will bring me a great car, so I am heading into this weekend feeling pretty good about our PSR Products, Pace-O-Matic, Mohawk Northeast, No. 7VA.”

Jonathan Cash opened the season with a finish outside the top-10 at Florence, but the end result wasn’t indicative of the speed the No. 16VA had. He was running inside the top-10 when he had problems and had to pit. Cash is excited to head to Caraway with hopes of rebounding on Sunday.

“Excited to get back to Caraway,” Cash said. “Caraway is a place where we have run multiple times and have a lot more experience compared to some other tracks on the schedule. I’m glad to be back closer to home and look forward to Sunday’s race in the Pace-O-Matic No. 16VA.”

The schedule for Sunday at Caraway includes practice from 12:18-12:58 p.m., followed by Pace-O-Matic qualifying at 1:30 p.m., and the green flag for the Warrior 100 later in the day. There are multiple other divisions racing on Sunday. The event will air live on FloRacing.TV for those who are not able to make it to the track.

The Sadler-Stanley Racing (SS Racing) team was started in 2022 by NASCAR TV personality and 1993 NASCAR Xfinity Series Rookie of the Year Hermie Sadler and his friend, Virginia State Senator and Attorney, Bill Stanley. SS Racing has been in existence for two years and won multiple events. The team won two races in 2022, including a once-in-a-lifetime win in the return to North Wilkesboro Speedway with the SMART Modified Tour with NASCAR legend Ryan Newman driving. In 2023, the team returned to Victory Lane twice on the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic with Labonte piloting the No. 18VA to victory at Tri-County Speedway and Orange County Speedway. Both Jonathan Cash and Luke Baldwin will compete full-time on the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic for the 2024 season. Labonte will compete in a partial SMART Modified Tour schedule for the team, while also running select NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour events. Follow the team on Facebook at SS Racing.
