 Sadler-Stanley Racing looks to defend the king crown this Saturday at South Boston Speedway. Last year, driver Luke Baldwin captured the King of the Modifieds race win with the SMART Modified Tour, hoisting the trophy, wearing the robe and putting on the crown as King of the Modifieds, his first career Tour-Type Modified win. This week, it’s the second annual King of the Modifieds. Baldwin will look to make it back-to-back crowns, while team driver Jonathan Cash will also look to take it away from him and keep it inside the Sadler-Stanley Racing stable. Both drivers will enter in their Pace-O-Matic, PSR Products machines. “I’m excited to get back to South Boston Speedway with an event that means a lot to me,” Baldwin said. “It’s going to be a tough race with some big names. It’s a special race for me at one of my favorite race tracks. I’m confident in our race car after the test session we had there. We should be fast - I just have to keep my head down, make no mistakes… and I think we will have a shot at it.” “I’m really looking forward to getting back to home track at South Boston,” Jonathan Cash said. “The PSR guys brought a fast car to the test last week. Hopefully we can carry that over to the weekend and find victory lane with Pace-O-Matic and Sadler-Stanley Racing in the King of the Modifieds.” The schedule at South Boston Speedway is a two-day show for the SMART Modified Tour. Friday includes practice from 1:30-2:10 p.m. and 2:30-3:10 p.m., followed by qualifying at 5 p.m. On Saturday, the Pace-O-Matic Pit Party will take place at 11:45 a.m. and the green flag for the King of the Modifieds 125 is slated for around 3 p.m. The event will air live on FloRacing.TV.  For the third time in his SMART Modified Tour career, Luke Baldwin was in Victory Lane on Saturday evening at Anderson Motor Speedway. Baldwin won the Pace-O-Matic pole in qualifying with a track record time around the South Carolina oval. He followed it up by remaining near the front of the field for the entire 99-lap distance, saving his equipment until it mattered most.
Baldwin took the lead for the final time after a pit stop for a fresh tire and never looked back. The victory was his first of the season in the second race of the year for the defending series champion. Earlier in the week, Baldwin announced a part-time effort on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this season, with three events for Thorsport Racing. “It was a badass race car all day,” Baldwin, who was fastest in practice and qualifying and won the race, said. “These PSR Products Modifieds are unreal. It’s a pleasure to drive for Hermie Sadler and Bill Stanley and this entire SS Racing team. It’s really cool to bounce back from Florence and be back in Victory Lane.” Team driver Jonathan Cash also captured his second straight top-10 finish to open the year, finishing in 10th. The Sadler-Stanley Racing team will be back on the track for the King of the Modifieds event at South Boston Speedway, March 21-22. Both are coming off top-10 finishes in the opener at Florence last weekend, with Baldwin 9th and Cash 10th. They are both looking to build on that run. Baldwin was running second until late contact sent him to the tail of the field. The two drivers topped the only practice session of the day, showing the speed in their mounts. Both Luke Baldwin and Jonathan Cash were back behind the wheel, beginning their effort to chase the championship on the series in 2025.
Baldwin was fastest in practice, while Cash was second. The Pace-O-Matic team was prepared for the race, and had a shot to win with Baldwin. Contact racing for the lead inside the final five laps sent Baldwin to the tail of the field. He was able to rebound through the pack in the final few laps to finish ninth, while Cash finished in 13th.
