The Hickory Hundred presented by Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet is the final race until Memorial Day weekend, as the SMART Modified Tour takes a break.
Both Luke Baldwin and Jonathan Cash will return to their PSR Chassis, Pace-O-Matic entries for the 100-lap event at the Birthplace of NASCAR. Bobby Labonte was scheduled to compete in a third entry for the race, but will not be attending after the passing of his father, Bob Labonte. The Sadler-Stanley Racing team sends condolences to the entire Labonte family during this difficult time. Both Baldwin and Cash will run Bob Labonte memorial stickers on their entries at Hickory. Both Baldwin and Cash are coming off top-five runs at Orange County. “I’m excited to get back to Hickory for the first time this year,” Baldwin said. “I have a lot of experience at this track, whether it’s racing or watching, so I have a lot of confidence going in. There are a few little things about the track that have changed, but at the end of the day it’s the same old, worn out Hickory. I know my Pace-O-Matic, Sadler-Stanley Racing PSR Products Modified will be fast, so I expect to be up front.” “All of us are looking forward to Hickory this weekend,” Cash said. “It feels like we may have turned the corner and got the car a lot better last week, so we have a lot of confidence. We tested at Hickory and had good speed in our PSR Products, Pace-O-Matic machine.” The schedule for race day at Hickory includes practice from 3:20-4:10 p.m., followed by Pace-O-Matic qualifying at 5:20 p.m., and the drop of the green flag for the Hickory Hundred at 7:15 p.m. The race will air live on FloRacing.TV.  For the second time in 2024, both Sadler-Stanley Racing drivers finished in the top-five on Saturday evening, April 6.
In the fifth SMART Modified Tour race of the season at Orange County Speedway, Jonathan Cash brought home his No. 16VA in third-place, while Luke Baldwin crossed the line fifth driving the No. 7VA. Cash and Baldwin both showed speed in all sessions throughout the day, starting with practice. Cash was sixth-fastest in practice rounds, while Luke Baldwin was ninth on the speed charts. In Pace-O-Matic qualifying, Cash posted the second fastest time, and Luke the fourth fastest time. The qualifying runs set the team up well for 99 laps in chase of the big prize. In the feature, both Cash and Baldwin continued to show speed. After running inside the top-10 for the first half, Luke had some contact and pitted during a caution flag with 51 laps to go for the team to work on the car. After the restart, he was able to charge from 15th backup to finish inside the top-five. Cash was able to run consistently around the top-five all night and crossed the line third at the finish. Overall, the entire PSR Products team worked hard at Orange County to bring home two strong finishes. The Sadler-Stanley Racing team will be back on track for the sixth SMART Modified Tour race of the season at Hickory Motor Speedway next Saturday, April 13. The team will bring Cash, Baldwin and NASCAR Hall of Fame member Bobby Labonte to the track for battle. The team is heading for Orange County Speedway in North Carolina with both Jonathan Cash and Luke Baldwin ready to continue their battle towards the series championship.
In his first four races with the team, Baldwin has finished seventh or better in all of them, scoring a monster win in the King of the Modifieds at South Boston on March 24. The best finish for Cash in the first four events was a solid fourth-place effort in the South Boston event, his home track. Cash is looking forward to putting a tough day at Tri-County in the rear-view mirror and is heading to Orange County looking to rebound. “Definitely ready to get back to racing close to home,” Cash said. “Orange County Speedway is 20 minutes from my house, so hopefully this is the weekend we get the monkey off our back and bring the Pace-O-Matic No. 16 to the front.” Baldwin looks to continue his run of consistency to open the season. “Orange County is a place I've had circled on the schedule since the beginning of the year,” Baldwin said. “I’ve been there to spot and I've watched a lot of races there. It’s a really cool race track and races well. I’m excited to finally experience it.” The schedule for Saturday’s SMART Modified Tour race at Orange County includes practice from 3-3:30 p.m., Pace-O-Matic qualifying at 4:45 p.m. and the green flag for the Rumble at Rougemont around 7 p.m. The race will be live on FloRacing.TV for those who are unable to make it to the track.
