Sadler-Stanley Racing driver Luke Baldwin was on top for the second time in his Tour-Type Modified career on Saturday night at Dominion Raceway. After qualifying on the pole, Baldwin redrew second for the Flying VA Classic. With a dominant performance, Baldwin was at the front of the field for much of the 99-lap distance in Virginia. He drove the Pace-O-Matic, PSR Chassis No. 7VA to Victory Lane for the second time this season for Sadler-Stanley Racing.

“This PSR Products, Pace-O-Matic Modified was on a rail tonight,” Baldwin said. “My guys give me a winning race car every race and I’m glad I was able to put it together for them, the Hendrick family and Glenn Dixon. I had to run side-by-side with a lot of big names in this one. It’s really special to win. My guys deserve it.”

While Baldwin won, two other Sadler-Stanley Racing drivers also competed in the race. After 99 laps, full-time driver Jonathan Cash finished seventh in the No. 16VA. Behind him, NASCAR Hall of Fame driver and former NASCAR Cup Series champion Bobby Labonte finished 11th.

The Sadler-Stanley Racing team has a quick turnaround ahead. The next event on the SMART Modified Tour schedule is set for Wednesday, September 18 at Lonesome Pine Motorsports Park. Both Baldwin and Cash will compete for the team at that event.

Three Pace-O-Matic Entries Ready For Battle in The Flying VA Classic

The Sadler-Stanley Racing, Pace-O-Matic team heads for the next SMART Modified Tour event this Saturday evening. At Dominion Raceway, the team will bring three entries - Luke Baldwin, Jonathan Cash and Bobby Labonte - to chase the checkered flag in the Flying VA Classic.

With just four races remaining in the championship battle for 2024, the Dominion event will mark the final cutoff for the SMART Modified Tour playoff field. The SMART playoff field after this event will include the top-five drivers in the championship standings. At this point, Pace-O-Matic team driver Luke Baldwin is third in the standings and in position to qualify. If he can seal the deal, the Racing Electronics Rookie of the Year contender and one-time feature winner (South Boston) will chase the championship.

While Baldwin is third, 35 points from the lead in the title battle, Jonathan Cash is also inside the top-10 in the championship standings, sitting eighth. Cash has five top-10 finishes this season, including a best of second, and will look to carry the trophy on Saturday for the first time.

While both Baldwin and Cash are full-time drivers, part-time NASCAR Hall of Fame and NASCAR Cup Series championship driver Bobby Labonte also returns to the team this week. Labonte has a victory and two top-five finishes in his three starts so far on the SMART Tour this season.

The race day schedule for Dominion Raceway includes SMART Modified Tour practice from 3:10-4 p.m., followed by Pace-O-Matic qualifying at 5 p.m. The green flag for the Flying VA Classic is scheduled to drop at 7 p.m. The event will air live on FloRacing.TV.

Sadler-Stanley Racing competed in two different SMART Modified Tour races on the same day on August 31.

Although the original event at New River All-American Speedway was scheduled for Friday, August 30, persistent rain in the area forced officials to make an unprecedented announcement. SMART Modified Tour officials decided to have two races on the same day at two different tracks on August 31.

The Sadler-Stanley Racing, Pace-O-Matic team first competed at New River All-American Speedway, with the green flag dropping at 9 a.m. local time for the Pace-O-Matic 99. At the end of the race, the SS Racing team had Luke Baldwin finishing on the podium in third spot and Jonathan Cash finishing 10th. From there, the team loaded up and headed down the road to Carteret County Speedway for the Carteret Clash.

Joining Cash and Baldwin for this one was former NASCAR Cup Series champion Bobby Labonte, adding another race to his 2024 season with the Sadler-Stanley Racing team. At one point inside the final 15 laps, the three team cars were running 1-2-3. But, when the checkered flag went in the air, it was Cash finishing second, Baldwin fourth and Labonte 9th. It was Cash’s best finish of the season behind the wheel of the No. 16VA.

The team worked hard competing on a busy day, but there is no rest for the group! The team is back in the shop preparing for the next SMART Modified Tour race at Caraway Speedway on Saturday, September 7.
